Happy New Year! I brought in 2011 in Austin with my daughter Coco and her family and some very special friends.
Early in the eve, Ruby arrived.
Coco had the honor of shearing Ruby's hair.
Note: Cancer can suck it!
And chemo is rude.
Post-buzz, Ruby's fiancé Chris got a solidarity buzz.
Sweetest couple around.
Coco and me at midnight.
She is so gorgeous and full of life.
Note her beautiful locks.
Me and the nanaboys.
They like to cut up.
Where do they get it?
(No idea who the drunken reveler is in the background, but he is admirably passionate.)
Uh-oh.
It's 1 a.m.
Do you know where your hair is?
Yikes! That's a lotta locks on the floor.
And they belong to . . .
. . . Coco who gets the solidarity buzz.
Showing support for her best bud Ruby.
Aren't they both beautiful?
It's a family affair.
The boys show their support of their mom's best friend and get buzzed too.
Today, many of Ruby's friends and family buzzed their heads to show her their support.
Good friends enrich our lives so much. I'm so proud of my daughter for being there for Ruby in this special way.
That's the way to kick off 2011, isn't it?
And, oh yeah, I got buzzed in a totally different way . . .

Here's to a successful battle for Ruby in 2011 - what an amazing crew! You have a beautiful family - hairless is a grand look!
Made me cry - but goodness they all look GREAT with no hair!
you are right, they are beautiful.
And that's one special daughter you have there.
That's way too wicked! Way to go for the buzz cuts. One bonus is it feels fantastic when you have a shower after you shave your head. All tingly!
Oh, I love when friends/family do that for others fighting cancer. You must be very proud!
Solidarity is a great way to start a year ....lovely story. Happy New Year my friend up there on the top side of the world. xx
Cancer does suck! What a great way to show the love and support. Well done, Mom. You've raised a great girl.
AMAZING! that is so wonderful, the support and love all around is fabulous.
I hear great things about Austin. I wish you every happiness!
That is just beautiful!
What a loving & genuine show of support. Very touching.
What a lovely and inspiring action taken by your gorgeous family in support of a cherished friend. I know you are so proud of your "baldies". Super post. The Olde Bagg, Linda
I'm getting buzzed tomorrow.
Honest.
That is all sorts of cool. Wishing Ruby all the best, and kudos to the family.
You are right: cancer can suck it.
Flying some prayer flags on the Everest of my mind...
Praying for Ruby for healing! This is the coolest post I've seen in a while and they all look stunning!
You have such an awesome family! That's true friendship! They both look gorgeous with or without hair. Hair is just a decoration. What is most important is what is on the inside. I told my 14 year old niece that yesterday. She just assumes that no boy is going to like her if her hair is short. I should show her your beautiful daughter and Ruby.
They all look fabulous and I hope Ruby's battle is successful!!
What a blessing and comfort for Ruby...all the friends and family standing by her side. Wonderful!!
Happy New Year and God bless
Hugs
SueAnn
Praying for healing! What special friends you are!
God bless you all as you support her thru this journey!
They actually do look great with no hair. They all have such beautiful facial bones
Hopes and prayers for the effectiveness of her treatment.
I never saw so many buzz cuts, I wondered how they felt the next day.Tough experience to go through so young.
Ruby must be an awesome young woman to have people support her strongly like this. You were with some special people for New Years Eve. CoCo and Ruby look so beautiful with shaved heads. Must be the beauty from within shining on the outside.
(Jaw dropping..) That is NOT your daughter, she has to be your sister?? What a beautiful, awesome, wonderful family you have hon, as is Ruby - let's hope 2011 brings joy, health and much happiness to all.
Wow!!! Your daughter is one Awesome girl!! You must be so very proud of her!!! I am just lost for words!!
Those beautiful faces, no longer hidden behind the mask of hair speaks volumes of their love for Ruby.
The love they have in their eyes about what they have done, shows that which would make the whole world a better place.
Could we, would we, should we, all make a sacrifice so big, yet so devoted to those we love? YES!
Now, about you getting buzzed a different way, you make me laugh!!!!
Of course, I'm still getting over the concussion from the hammock! LOL
Absolutely beautiful...what an honor to be a part of this ceromony...I pray that much healing and health come for dear Ruby...bless your daughter and her family for taking part in this...hair or not, every single one of them are beautiful. Your daughter is beautiful like you and I'm not just talking about your outside package. There is no greater joy then knowing you have successfully raised a child that has a beautiful heart.
Bless all of you...here's to a wonderful 2011! Cheers! XX
So many small acts can bring so much love and support......
x
That's just hugely awesome. The love just shines through.
Coco and Ruby are gorgeous with or without hair. I pray Ruby will be fine. I love the support your lovely family showed Ruby!
You and your daughter are beautiful! No kidding! What a lovely New Years!
Oh shit, like you're hot and pretty and stuff. Uh, it will grow back. :)
Wow. Your daughter is pretty, just like her mama. As it turns out, she is beautiful as well :-)
You did a good job raising such a person.
Yes, all beautiful and what a wonderful act of love.
OH!! Aww!! This brought tears to my eyes. Your daughter Coco is sofa king awesome. And here's hoping Ruby kicks cancers ass.
Happy New Year, indeed. What an amazing way to kick things off!
I've seen Coco rock that look wayyyyyy back in the day (wink)! She's still just as cute as a button and makes me proud!
Loved this post. The perfect way to start the new year, supporting someone you love.
Now this is what it's all about. I hope Ruby beats the hell out of her cancer.
Your family is gorgeous inside and out, my friend.
Awwwww. What a beautiful thing your daughter and family did for their friend. I will keep her in my prayers. Cancer DOES SUCK!
Wow. I'm speechless and we all know that doesn't happen much. Your daughter rocks! How proud are you???? Sending prayers to Ruby and thanks to Coco for showing what true friendship is all about.
I am blown away with the love and strength your family has shown their friend!!! Gave me a 'kick start', I tell you! Puts a lot into perspective. WOW! Most powerful post I have EVER read. Thanks for this.

WoW! Prayer for Ruby!
What an incredible bunch of buzz heads!!!
Good for them! You must be about fit to burst with pride. The future's in good hands with kids like that at the helm.
That is so touching when people do that. They all actually look really nice as baldies!
Cancer can suck it, you are right!
A bright light can make the darkest situation so much easier to deal with...this is an inspiration to those even outside of our family.
That totally just made me cry. How wonderful that your daughter and her family could come together to show support for a dear friend.
Cancer sucks big time.
Wishing Ruby success and support during this difficult time.
Isn't it amazing how much of our esteem we put into our hair and then we see people who have baldness, illness, or even shaving their head for fashion and they still look wonderful.
Why is hair so important to us?
What a great friend!! I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see if my head is a good shape for baldness. They all look beautiful, even with no hair. And, yes. . Cancer does suck!!
Congratulations on your buzz. Sending a shout up to heaven for Ruby.
Smiles

I find the support on this post refreshing! So few positive outlets out there being expressed!
Kudos on the friendship!
Gorgeous.
And your last line is perfect.
Wishing all the BEST to Ruby.
Had a scare recently myself -- so far, it's nothing.
My sister had surgery today. We hope it's nothing.
You have a beautiful family.
XOX,
Pearl
Sorry I'm so late to your New Year's buzz(es). Absolutely beautiful.
Cheers for Ruby and her following. Such loyal friends. And cute family, too, Liar.
*Instant tears!*

and the solidarity buzz is the sweetest thing one can do. i love it!
I notice that you didn't put your buzzing picture up!! What a fab thing to do and they all look fabulous too :)
1. Yes - cancer sucks the fat man flap!
2. Love the solidarity - it's what gets us through!
What a wonderful thing for them all to do for her. Hope Ruby keeps well and continues to have the love of such good friends.
There is nothing more beautiful than the power of love, friendship and support.
Beautiful!
Hi,
I begin on internet with a directory
That just completely rocked. Completely.
Our nephew went so fast that chemo wouldn't help. We were all ready to buzz. Glad your friend gets a chance.
That is simply the most awesome and moving pictorial! Sending healing prayers to Ruby.
And a Happy New Year to you, mah dear! Great things in store! ;-)
This post made me cry. Sending strength and prayers to Ruby and her family....
woot...how awesome they all did it together...cancer does suck...
This is so sweet, and so scary. I wish Ruby the very best. No matter what is in store...she's got a lot of love and support!
that touched me. And I am sending prayers to Ruby, et al.
So touching - made me cry. With that kind of love going round, Ruby will be all right. Hugs to her and family.
Cool, baby...cool....
I think that's wonderful! My nephew, Chris, did that once--along with several other guys--in support of a classmate with cancer.
One of the coolest posts I've ever seen on a blogsite, I really love this one!
Came over here from Mooner's place (because if that twisted individual finds you worthy, I gotta check it out) and I'm glad I did.
Hope you visit me at mine when you have time. I'm blogrolling you, if that's cool.
