Buzzed for 2011

Happy New Year! I brought in 2011 in Austin with my daughter Coco and her family and some very special friends.

Early in the eve, Ruby arrived.

Coco had the honor of shearing Ruby's hair.

Note:  Cancer can suck it!

And chemo is rude.

Post-buzz, Ruby's fiancé Chris got a solidarity buzz.

Sweetest couple around.

Coco and me at midnight.

She is so gorgeous and full of life.

Note her beautiful locks.

Me and the nanaboys.

They like to cut up.
Where do they get it?

(No idea who the drunken reveler is in the background, but he is admirably passionate.)

Uh-oh.

It's 1 a.m.
Do you know where your hair is?

Yikes! That's a lotta locks on the floor.

And they belong to . . .

. . . Coco who gets the solidarity buzz.

Showing support for her best bud Ruby.

Aren't they both beautiful?

It's a family affair.

The boys show their support of their mom's best friend and get buzzed too.

Today, many of Ruby's friends and family buzzed their heads to show her their support.

Good friends enrich our lives so much. I'm so proud of my daughter for being there for Ruby in this special way.

That's the way to kick off 2011, isn't it?

And, oh yeah, I got buzzed in a totally different way . . .

That's way too wicked! Way to go for the buzz cuts. One bonus is it feels fantastic when you have a shower after you shave your head. All tingly!

You have such an awesome family! That's true friendship! They both look gorgeous with or without hair. Hair is just a decoration. What is most important is what is on the inside. I told my 14 year old niece that yesterday. She just assumes that no boy is going to like her if her hair is short. I should show her your beautiful daughter and Ruby.

They all look fabulous and I hope Ruby's battle is successful!!
What a blessing and comfort for Ruby...all the friends and family standing by her side. Wonderful!!

Ruby must be an awesome young woman to have people support her strongly like this. You were with some special people for New Years Eve. CoCo and Ruby look so beautiful with shaved heads. Must be the beauty from within shining on the outside.

(Jaw dropping..) That is NOT your daughter, she has to be your sister?? What a beautiful, awesome, wonderful family you have hon, as is Ruby - let's hope 2011 brings joy, health and much happiness to all.

Those beautiful faces, no longer hidden behind the mask of hair speaks volumes of their love for Ruby.

The love they have in their eyes about what they have done, shows that which would make the whole world a better place.

Could we, would we, should we, all make a sacrifice so big, yet so devoted to those we love? YES!

Now, about you getting buzzed a different way, you make me laugh!!!!

Of course, I'm still getting over the concussion from the hammock! LOL

Absolutely beautiful...what an honor to be a part of this ceromony...I pray that much healing and health come for dear Ruby...bless your daughter and her family for taking part in this...hair or not, every single one of them are beautiful. Your daughter is beautiful like you and I'm not just talking about your outside package. There is no greater joy then knowing you have successfully raised a child that has a beautiful heart.

Bless all of you...here's to a wonderful 2011! Cheers! XX

That totally just made me cry. How wonderful that your daughter and her family could come together to show support for a dear friend.

Cancer sucks big time.

Wishing Ruby success and support during this difficult time.

Isn't it amazing how much of our esteem we put into our hair and then we see people who have baldness, illness, or even shaving their head for fashion and they still look wonderful.

Why is hair so important to us?

Anonymous said...

What a great friend!! I'm not sure I'm brave enough to see if my head is a good shape for baldness. They all look beautiful, even with no hair. And, yes. . Cancer does suck!!

Hope you visit me at mine when you have time. I'm blogrolling you, if that's cool.
