Wee Wisdom #11

This post was chosen by Hilary over at The Smitten Image as "A Good Laugh" Post of the Week.

Thanks Hilary!

Poignant Pearls of the Week

First up, from Miss America, age 6:

"I want to be a vegetarian when I grow up, so I can help animals."

Next up, my sweet boy Destructo, age 4:

"Nah, you got big knockers?"

I reply, "Uh . . . uh . . . Yes?"

Destructo smiles. "I got big knockers too."

[crickets]

The boy grins and runs off.

What the . . . some man put him up to that. Unless . . .

A short while later, it all becomes clear:

Destructo:  Look, Nah. I got big knockers!

Me:  Ooooooohhhhhhh!
My, you DO have some
big knockers.

LOL! We made caramel apples this weekend...my husband had one with nuts all over it. He told the kids they could eat the apples they'd made, but leave his alone...his was the one with nuts. One of the kids went inside and yelled out, "Don't touch Neil's nuts!"

Hi. I saw your comment on Brian Miller's blog and was taken with your name (Fragrant Liar) so had to drop by to say hello. And I am glad I did. As a kindergarten teacher I love "Wee Wisdom" and try to document these interactions as well. Too funny.

At first I thought the first comment was made by the REAL Miss America and THAT wouldn't have surprised me. Have you heard some of the things that come out of their mouths?

These are adorable! Kids! Gotta love 'em!

I'm sure the line, "Nah, you've got big knockers" was originally in "Little Red Riding Hood", but the censors got a hold of it and red-lined that sucker!

I love "being a vegetarian" when I grow up! Does Descructo really mean "knockers"??? Hysterically funny kids!

They are sweet, aren't they.

Oh thank heavens that's what he meant!

Haha I'm a new follower and this was such a cute day to stop by!! Your little girl is so cute wanting to help animals, and who would have though knockers would have so many meanings!

Oh, haha, I love how you totally misunderstood Destructo at first.

Of course, small knockers are Ok too... they fit in your pocket nicely ;-)

Fred Miller said...

Sean called them nickels at that age. "Mom, you have big nickels."

Hilary said...

Now that's hilarious! Too funny.

My seven year old was helping me put together a bookshelf. He helped a lot with the screws and screwdriver. He announced, "I love screwing things." I quickly concurred.

Pretty durn cute.

I think all little girls want to be vets at some point in their lives. If the kind of vet bills I've paid in my lifetime are any indication -- it's a damn good living.

They're adorable.

Big knockers come in handy sometimes, or so I've been told.

Kids are really starting young these days! LOL

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

I wanted to be a vegetarian too, back in the day.

Cute kids! I couldn't help but notice the contrast between the girl and the boy. :)

Some of my favorite things about childhood are lack of clarity, articulation, and enunciation.

As an adult, I still have one of those.

That's funny. My older son had a video about heavy construction equipment when he was a little boy that he always referred to as "my dirty video."

Madame DeFarge said...

Marvellous. Presumably he wants to see big birds through his big knockers.

Hehehe. There are many hurdles to clear in the language acquisition Olympics, aren't there?

Very funny, and thank you for sharing it. Congratulations on the POTW mention at Hilary's. It's impossible to read this and not chuckle!

Cricket said...

Thanks for the morning laughs. Congratulations on your potw.

Big knockers, eh? Too funny. My own little Destructo has a bit of a speech impediment. He doesn't really do "s-blends" well. One day he came up to me and said:

Dad, what does a (very bad c-word) eat?

Me: WHAT?!?

After a little back-and-forth, I determined he wanted to know what a skunk eats. Oh. Right. Skunks.

I knew that.
