128 Sticks of Butter

Okay, my peeps, one of my dearest friends and her husband are on a DIET. Man, that's my least favorite four-letter word ever. Well, not EVER; there is one worse word and not even I can manage to get it out of my sailor's mouth – which is really saying something (but not quite). All right, that one time was an accident, but four beers can do that to me. Plus I'm totally not responsible for my actions when my salsa partner is kidnapped mid-chacha. Cumbia this, chica!

Where was I?

Oh yeah, Michelle and Mike are chronicling their weight loss progress for all the world to see on a blog called 128 Sticks of Butter. The best thing about this blog? The writing. Sure, it's entertaining and you want to cheer them into melting off the poundage, but Michelle is an accomplished writer with a great sense of humor. And hey, she gets MY quirky humor – a questionable attribute at best, but redeeming nonetheless in my eyes.

See, Michelle and I have been good friends for about ten years now, and she has seen me through good times and bad. Bad as in royal pain, what were you thinking, you have lost it! Like when my tiara fell off and it wasn't so good to be queen anymore when I beat feet for a new village. Meh, it was only temporary cuz I got a new tiara which is quite shiny and bejeweled (and dare I say mystical if one has imbibed beyond the legal limit), and while not always used for altruistic purposes, I'm sure having more fun with it. The tiara, people -- catch up! Point is, Michelle was there for me. And I'm pretty sure she always will be.

So go check her out, and tell her Fragrant Liar sent ya. And if you could mention that I'd like some of her Etsy stuff for my birthday, that could be cool. Cuz she rocks the crafty world too.

Aw, man. I got a ping pong ball in my throat. Imagine my surprise when I go to check your blog and there's me and my butter! Thank you so much for plugging us AND for saying all that good stuff about me. Shucks. We're buds forever, girl, from our C-bombs to our F-bombs, from our shiny tiaras to our witches hats.
And yes! Come ooooon, Etsy shoppers! But uh ... the link you put up to my Etsy shop doesn't work. Hey, just sayin'.
Thank yeeeeew, Ms. FL. You da best!

"The one worse word..." Hmmm. I'm intrigued.

I'd probably say it.

You had me at sticks. I'm headed there now. Maybe I will take notes. Any diet that involves 128 sticks of butter has GOT to be for me!!

I have been over there and checked her site out, and I even browsed through her Etsy stuff, very nice. Did I hear something mentioned about a birthday? huh?

I think a trip to Nags Head to celebrate that birthday would be in order! or at least order up a double shot of mystery!

oh and stay away from that dreaded butter!

Any friend of yours is friend of mine : )

Hey, the big C- word, why is it so reviled?
The good folks on the other side of the big pond use it, and they INVENTED english.
I wrote a post about that called "lets talk about cnuts" Then I lost it, tried a re-write and get the same vein of thought down on paper.
Think I'll revisit that one more time!

Like, maidenhead revisited!

Admirable endeavour. I always admore those who diet with such commitment. I rarely stick to anything for long enough to make a difference.

And did I miss what happened to your salsa partner?

oh diets. ugh! i need to be on one!

my rail thin sister used to work for jenny craig. they told their clients that with each pound lost they should visualize a 1 lb block of butter being removed from their body. quite the visual, no?

I want Etsy stuff, too.

I can attest to Michelle's great abilities. And what a great friend you are to tout her new blog. Much better at that than some of her other friends.

I hate crafty people.
And people who diet.
And well...I'm a shallow, jealous woman.

I am known as the worst cook ever! Whenever I burnt something when my kids were growing up, I spread butter on the burnt parts and convinced my kids that it was supposed to be burnt so that I could put the butter on it. Ha-ha! You think I'm kidding...I'm not.
